Debenture and types of debentures


Debenture is written instrument acknowledging debt  and  containing provisions has regards payment of principal and interest at fixed rate.
In other words, Debenture is a medium to long term instrument issued by company to borrow money.
Types of Debentures
1.From the point of view of security

  • Unsecured debentures
  • Fully secured debentures
  • Partly secured debentures
2. From the point of view of Tenure

  • Redeemable debentures
  • Irredeemable debentures
3. From  the point of view of mode of Redemption

  • Convertible debentures (a) fully convertible debentures (b) partly convertible debentures
  • Non-Convertible debentures
4. From the point of view of coupon rate

  • Debentures carrying fixed rate of interest
  • Debentures carrying floating rate of interest
5. From the point view of Registration

  • registered debentures
  • Bearer debentures
